The Archer Tigers cruised to victory over Peachtree Ridge 26-10 in a nationally televised game aired on ESPN. Archer QB Will Bearden had another solid game completing 13-18 passes for 200 yards and 1 rushing TD. Sr wide receiver Aramis Bryant had the biggest play of the evening in the 2nd quarter when Bearden connected with him for a 66 yard TD pass which really was the beginning of the end for the Lions. Archer has a bye this week in preparation for a showdown with the #2 ranked Grayson Rams on Friday 9/11.

Grayson began this year they same way they began last year's football campaign posting another shutout victory against the Gainesville Red Elephants. Valdosta State commit Cameryn Brent is pursuing his 3rd consecutive 1,000 yard plus season, and he definitely started 2015 with a bang rushing for 173 yards and 2 TD's. The Rams defense held the Red Elephants to only 120 yards total offense. Grayson's leading tackler from 2014 LB Denzel Wright had a pick six. Next: Sept 4th vs Hughes

The Hawks set a school record for points scored last year versus West Forsyth when they put 65 points on the scoreboard. Mill Creek handled the Wolverines again this year smacking them 51-13. The Hawks were up by 7 at the half, but came out super strong in the 2nd half scoring 34 points and holding the Wolverines scoreless the final 2 quarters. RB Daniel Leconte rushed for 145 yards and 2 TD's on 21 carries. Next: Sept 4th at Dacula

6North Gwinnett Bulldogs1-1
Everyone knows a Bob Sphire coached team will always find a way to bounce back. The North Gwinnett Bulldogs found a way to win through adversity by defeating North Cobb 29-28. 2016 RB Kameron Pickett led the way for the Bulldogs rushing for 140 yards and 2 touchdowns. With the victory, Coach Bob Sphire clinched his 100th win as a head coach in the state of Georgia. Next: Sept. 4th vs Hillgrove
7Norcross Blue Devils2-0
The Norcross Blue Devils' defense was the deciding factor in defeating the Brookwood Broncos 17-13. Their defense accounted for 2 touchdowns with a 45 yd fumble return by 2017 LB Monty Montgomery and a game winning 25 yd interception return by 2016 DB Kendrew Wynn to seal the game. Montgomery was a standout in the game with 20 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and the aforementioned fumble return for a TD. With the offense only scoring 3 points, the Blue Devils will definitely look to get their offense back on track. Next: Sept 4th vs Milton

9Parkview Panthers 2-0
Senior QB Jack Chambers continued where he left off from last week with an excellent performance in a close 33-28 win over Mountain View. Chambers had 367 yards of total offense and 4 touchdowns. WR's Johnathan Boyd and Tyler Fleetwood (Miami of Ohio) both had TD receptions and nearly went over 100 yards receiving each. The Panthers have a bye this week to prepare for the Battle of Five Forks. Next: Sept 11th vs Brookwood
10Central Gwinnett Black Knights 1-0
The Black Knights protected The Castle and got their first win in the last 3 meetings versus Collins Hill 35-29. Senior QB Micah Maxey looked comfortable and poised in his first varsity start. Maxey threw for 252 yards and 4 touchdowns. Three of those were to Major Bellamy. Bellamy had 163 receiving yards with a slight limp for most of the game. On defense Senior LB Nigel Adams (Miami of Ohio) had a dream game with 3 first half interceptions. The The Black Knights were swarming on defense all night. Next: Sept 4th at Mundy Mill
