The Falcons defense had 3 takeaways in the 1st quarter. LB Azeem Cooper intercepted a deflected pass and took it to the house, then 1 minute later CJ Mayes got his 2nd pick six in 2 weeks. Mayes also rushed for 125 yards and 1 TD in the 20-10 Region 8 win over Central Gwinnett. Next: Oct 17th at Brookwood
4Peachtree Ridge Lions5-1
Peachtree Ridge beat Duluth 49-6. QB Chance Thrasher threw for 325 yards 3 TD’s and also had 58 yards on the ground. WR Connor Heyward had 7 catches 122 yards and 2 TD’s, and WR Christian Sutton had 4 catches 139 yards and 1 TD. The Lions are 3-0 in Region play, but can they stay undefeated with their toughest region foes remaining on the schedule starting with a hungry North Gwinnett team. Next: Oct 10th vs North Gwinnett

The Blue Devils defeating North Gwinnett 17-10 in the 2013 State Championship rematch. Norcross defense held the hottest passing offense in the state to 176 yards in the air. QB Jacob Gassert threw for 201 yards and 1 TD and also scored 1 TD on the ground. WR Jared Pinckney had 2 catches for 126 yards and 1 one of those receptions was an 86 yard TD. North Gwinnett lost to Norcross 17-7 Friday night which was their lowest point total of the season. In each of the Bulldogs first 5 games they put up at least 20 points. Expect North Gwinnett to go to the drawing board and figure things out as they travel to Suwanee next week to take on the Lions. Next: Oct 10th at Peachtree Ridge
9Collins Hill Eagles4-2
Collins Hill remains at #9 with a victory over the struggling Mountain View Bears 16-12. The Eagles are now 2-1 in Region play and the road doesn't get easy for Collins Hill. They host Duluth next week then they have three huge games against Mill Creek, Peachtree Ridge and Norcross to hopefully secure a playoff spot. Next: Oct 10th vs Duluth
10Central Gwinnett Black Knights3-2
Central Gwinnett falls to #10 after a big region loss on Friday night against Dacula 20-10. Central held Dacula scoreless in the final 3 quarters of the matchup but couldn't get the offense going against a very tough Falcon defense. Next: Oct 10th vs Brookwood
